Sorcery: Firestorm

Found here.
Primal pyromancy taught by Quelana of Izalith. Erect fire pillars in vicinity.
The storm of flame is indiscriminate, and incinerates all nearby life.
Short article on a slightly unpredictable spell inspired by Dark Souls that does a lot of damage if one is lucky. Let's take a look.

Mechanics

So, first off this attack does a lot of damage, and that is pretty easy, and it is not very reliable. This sounds like an Overhead (Which can be used as a substitution for an attack that occurs under a target as well) Area of Effect (Happens in a uniform area,) Emanation (With the caster at the middle) and Bombardment (Pretty random whether it hits or not.) If we put these all together we get:

Firestorm (+75%): Innate Attack (Burning) 3 (Sorcery -15%; Area Effect, 4 yards, +100%; Emanation, -20%; Bombardment, Effective Skill 8, -20%; Overhead, +30%) [27]

OK, so the spell costs 26.25 (rounded up to 27) character points for a default level of 3, and 8.75 (rounded up to 9) character points for a level beyond that (If you like that kind of thing. In the Sorcery write-up format, this looks like:

Firestorm

Keywords: Area (Fixed), Obvious
Full Cost: 27 points, 9 points per level.
Casting Roll: The bombard effect gives an effective skill of 8, plus bonuses for Sorcery Talent.
Range: 4 Yards.
Duration: Instantaneous.
Plumes of fire burst from the ground all around the caster. For friend and foe alike, roll against the bombardment skill limit to hit. Anyone that has not seen the attack before rolls at -2 to defend for their first exposure.
Statistics: Innate Attack (Burning) 3 (Sorcery -15%; Area Effect, 4 yards, +100%; Emanation, -20%; Bombardment, Effective Skill 8, -20%; Overhead, +30%) [27]

Other Notes and Closing

For an effect closer to the original game, you might want to add "Takes Extra Time." The default is level 3, because 3d Burning damage sounds like "a lot" to me, but jigger that however you like. Some really powerful enhancements to this spell would be selectivity (to not hit allies) and to decrease the level of Bombardment, but to me, decreasing that seems like it defeats the purpose. No Signature doesn't make sense to me, because I think it should be obvious who is casting this spell.
