It's been done before. I'm not weird. |
Mechanics
Horrifically, a homogeneous poop monster that can inflict retching is no laughing matter. Retching is a serious debilitation. Let's start with the ability to fire retching infliction bombs.
Attack Skill | 8 | Active Defense | 0 |
Affliction | 10 | Damage Resistance | 8 |
Damage | 0 | Health | 0 |
Fatigue Points | 0 | Hit Points | 0 |
Move | 0 | Will | 0 |
Total Offensive Rating (OR) | 18 | Total Protective Rating (PR) | 8 |
This puts us at a 26 off the bat. Let's shoot for a ceiling of 35 [Can you tell my players are a little stronger?] Let's say it also has an immunity to metabolic hazards, and give it a minor attack. If we go with the picture of Sukamon as inspiration, it might have a moderate scratching attack as well, also taking off one move because high health and dexterity doesn't make sense.
Attack Skill | 8 | Active Defense | 0 |
Affliction | 10 | Damage Resistance | 14 |
Damage | 9 | Health | 0 |
Fatigue Points | 0 | Hit Points | 0 |
Move | -1 | Will | 0 |
Total Offensive Rating (OR) | 26 | Total Protective Rating (PR) | 14 |
Eh, that's 40. A bit higher than I wanted to go. Let's lower the innate attack a smidge, and increase the attack skill of the melee attack, which will give us slightly more parry than we want
Attack Skill | 4 | Active Defense | 2 |
Affliction | 10 | Damage Resistance | 14 |
Damage | 9 | Health | 0 |
Fatigue Points | 0 | Hit Points | 0 |
Move | -1 | Will | 0 |
Total Offensive Rating (OR) | 22 | Total Protective Rating (PR) | 16 |
That's pretty good, we overshot a little, but that's fine. A Total of 38. I mean, if I wanted to cheese it, I could make the affliction FP based, then I'd cut the points in half... so let's do that! Then we can make the aim a bit better!
Attack Skill | 6 | Active Defense | 2 |
Affliction | 5 | Damage Resistance | 14 |
Damage | 9 | Health | 0 |
Fatigue Points | 0 | Hit Points | 0 |
Move | -1 | Will | 0 |
Total Offensive Rating (OR) | 19 | Total Protective Rating (PR) | 16 |
ST: 10 | HP: 10 | Speed: 5 |
DX: 4 | Will: 10 | Move: 5 |
IQ: 8 | Per: 10 | |
HT: 10 | FP: 10 | SM: 0 |
Dodge: 8 | Parry: 9 | DR: 0 |
Poop Toss (11): Max range 10 yards, Acc 3, Costs 1 FP, Poop is thrown up to 10 yards. If it hits a target, they roll HT-2 to avoid retching, for margin of failure times 1d seconds. If it is aimed at the ground, There is a +4 to skill, and it creates a 2 yard radius of bad smell. Roll against HT. Failure inflicts nausea for margin of failure minutes. Failure by 5 inflicts retching for margin of failure times 1d seconds. That is a lot of time heaving.
Traits: Striking ST 9 (Claws); Injury Tolerance (Homogenous); Immunity To Metabolic Hazards; Invertebrate; No Legs (Slithers);
Skills: Brawling-12, Throwing - 11
Class: Slime? I mean, it doesn't have IQ 0, but what else works for what is mostly a sentient pat?
Notes: Characters with Squeamishness react to an encounter as if having Cowardice-9, and need to make a fright check when attacking or being attacked. When defeated, someone can perform an extraction with the appropriate skills to get a supreme quality bag of fertilizer that inflicts Bad Smell while it is in your possession. The bag is 20 lbs, and is worth between $400 and $800.
Other Thoughts and Closing
This could easily be made more dangerous in several ways. The claws could inflict sepsis, the unchi could have an aura with area effect, and the poop it throws is more interesting if it has a lingering effect. It doesn't just stop smelling bad. The attacks could additionally inflict Bad Smell as well. That would only raise CER from 35 to 37.
For a heart warming and not at all farcical and sophomoric quest, somehow require the party to use social skills and intrigue.
Makes sense to be paired with bug and coprophagic types of monsters... maybe you can twist things on their head by saving it from a giant dung beetle?
