Cheat Sheet - Conditional Injury

If you are interested,
check it out.

Conditional Injury is a wound based system to replace the hit points in GURPS. I don't necessarily prefer one or the other, but it's a fun alternative that gives a different flavor to dealing with wounds; some might argue it is more realistic than hit points, I dunno, haven't watched enough people die in real life to make an authoritative statement one way or another. Get the cheat sheet here, if you like it.

Review: Pyramid #3/120 - Alternate GURPS V

It's good enough!
The alternate GURPS issues of Pyramid have generally been the better ones, and this one is pretty good as that goes. I forget whether it's the odd numbered ones or the even ones I liked more from the first four, but this one feels like third place of the whole group; neat thing is, whether or no
t the odd or the evens were my two favorite, the placement of this issue doesn't break the pattern. Hooray for that, I think! Let's take a closer look then.

Review: Pyramid #3/115 - Technomancer

Last month's pyramid.
So, it's been out a whole entire month. I've liked this issue so much, that I went and got the two other Technomancer books in the sale on warehouse 23 that's ending soon. I need to write something, and I don't have a lot of time, and I'm not feeling well, so hey, a review of something I really really liked for the first time in a while. To summarize the theme of this issue, it is updating the GURPS 3e setting of Technomancer to 4e. The articles have a bunch of different ways to integrate it with existing material. Even though the issue is focused on Technomancer, it is interesting in that a lot of the content is setting agnostic, and useful without that book. Feel free to keep reading and I might explain why.

Review: Pyramid #3/114 - Mind Over Magic

I noticed for the first time
that the cover art doesn't
cover the entire cover.
This is a relatively new issue. A lot of issues I review with a bit of retrospective behind it, but today, I'm going to review something that isn't even a month old. That's fine. In short, I think this is a pretty take-it-or-leave-it kinda issue with a lot of niche usage stuff, and to be frank, wasn't a big hit for me. Oh well, maybe someone else will like it. Let's take a closer look then.

Review: Pyramid #3/113 Dungeon Fantasies

Take A look if you want.
The newest pyramid out today is a Dungeon Fantasy issue. This is an impromptu review because I'm on vacation right now, but whatever. Let's see if this issue is good or not then.

Review: Pyramid #3/33 - Low Tech

Get it, or don't.
I'm not your father.
Low-Tech is the realm where I run most of my games, so this is a useful issue for me. Among other things, it includes the famous Deadly Spring article, and some good expansions to Low-Tech Companion 3. Whether or not this issue is valuable to you specifically though might depend on what elements of a game really matter to you, so let's take a closer look at the issue.

Review: Pyramid #3/65 - Alternate GURPS III

It's those guys!
A bit ago, I reviewed Alternate GURPS II, but today, I will review the third in the series. The Alternate GURPS issues are usually based around changing core mechanics or playing in the corner and edge cases of the system. Let's see what we get in this issue.

Review: Pyramid #3/13 - Thaumatology

Cover... art!
November 2009, this was almost seven years ago, ok? This issue is named Thaumatology and I believe is the start of a series in Pyramid. This issue goes over some Thaumatology stuff, some Dungeon Fantasy and Imbuements stuff, and some generic stuff, let's take a look.

Review: Pyramid #3/76 Dungeon Fantasy IV

An old man wandering lonely,
Taking time's the only way he
knows.
As of writing this, this is the last Pyramid so far with the "Dungeon Fantasy" title, so apparently, I have caught up... if I write this. This is one of my favorite in the series so far, so I'm happy to review it. Let's take a closer look at what this issue gives us.

Review: Pyramid #3/60 - Dungeon Fantasy III

Did his arm hurted?
The Dungeon Fantasy kickstarter is almost over, and it's done nominally well. Today, I'm going to do a bit of a review of the third Dungeon Fantasy pyramid issue... well there are other ones, but this is the third one named Dungeon Fantasy. Let's take a closer look.

Review: Pyramid #3/50 - Dungeon Fantasy II

Cover Art
To me, this is a funny issue in the Dungeon Fantasy series for Pyramid. Altogether, everything is really good, all of the articles are great supplementary material for any Dungeon Fantasy game, but altogether, it seems like there is not a really good theme or direction besides "here are some really good things for Dungeon Fantasy." But anyways, let's take a closer look.

Review: Pyramid #3/86 - Organizations

Pyramid has color cover art
even though it isn't in
print.
This is an issue that I seem to have to constantly recommend to people because they are always asking, "how do I build a base?" This issue covers that among other things, so let's take a look at what it gives us then.

Review: #3/72 - Alternate Dungeons

Great issue, but the cover
doesn't do it for me.
I reviewed the second one a while ago, but not this one yet. It's really good. It's got a bunch of cool things to add to Dungeon Fantasy. There's not a bad article, and it has the mix of hard mechanics and soft advice that sits just right with me. I don't really have much more in the way of an introduction to give, so let's crack open this can of worms, and dive in, like normal people do when they crack open normal cans of worms.

Review: Pyramid #3/44 - Alternate GURPS II

No gasping on this
cover.
Issue #3/44. The Alternate GURPS issue of Pyramid are awesome for people looking for ways to change things up. They are full of optional rules, and myself, being the kinda guy who loves looking through optional rules, these are some of my favorite issues. Alternate GURPS II is my favorite so far in the series, so while I go through reviewing them, I guess I'll start with this one.

Review: Pyramid #3/89 - Alternate Dungeons II

Cover Art
Alternate Dungeons I, which I haven't reviewed, is one of my favorite Pyramid issues. I think comparing this one to that one might be a bit unfair, but it's hard not to when the title alludes to it. I don't think this issue is bad, and it has some high points, but whereas the first one was rock'em'sock'em awesome start to finish, this one is... good with peaks and valleys. Let's take a look at this issue, article by article.

Review: Pyramid #3/66 The Laws of Magic

Good issue.
This issue of Pyramid, from April, 2014, speaks a lot to Ritual Path Magic and to a few bits of updated mechanics from the 3rd edition of GURPS, and little bits of odds and ends that deal with, of course, magic systems. The RPM content alone makes this issue a must-buy for fans of that system, but the rest of the content is a decent bonus too. Let's take a closer look.

Review: Pyramid #3/36 Dungeon Fantasy

Buy it Here.
I like Dungeon Fantasy a lot and it is the line I most often discuss here on this blog. Today, I was scrolling through my PDFs, starting with the oldest I have, and this is the earliest for which I have all the pieces to give a fair review: Pyramid #3/36 from October 2011. Those pieces being GURPS Powers: Divine Favor, GURPS Gun-Fu, GURPS MagicGURPS Power-Ups 1: Imbuements, Pyramid #3/4, 13, 19 and probably at a minimum, Dungeon Fantasy 1-3. Let's take a look at each of the articles one by one to dissect the value objectively, followed by my subjective opinions.

Review: Pyramid #3/04 - Magic on the Battlefield

Store Link
Welcome to the inaugural pyramid review post. Today, I'm going to start with the oldest pyramid issue I have, which isn't very old. Volume 3, issue 4, Magic on the Battlefield is an aptly named article that deals a lot with the idea of Magical Styles, some Imbuements, a little bit of Mass Combat and a bunch of system agnostic fluff and food for thought. Overall, for me, I bought it for the imbuements because I was experimenting with some ideas, but I do like a few of the other pieces as well. I am kinda impulsive when buying so if I see an issue with an article that sounds interesting, I'll probably buy it, but if there are more articles that turn out to be interesting, that's just icing on the cake. Let's take a closer look.

CER: Alternate Dungeons II

Giants and stuff.
I liked The Titan's House in the Alternate Dungeons II issue, and I enjoyed the enemy stats. Today's post is a quickie, but if you are like me, and like having encounter CERs ready to go, then this might save some time if you are thinking about porting this to another situation.
