Yup, buying books was a highlight.

First session in three weeks!

Session Capture: Varens Session 9, Our Heroes Discover an Unsettling Crater

When suddenly, the party found
themselves in a bleak clearing
with nothing but a crater.

Two weeks in a row?! Wowie kapowie! The session felt shortish, but a lot happened! No pithy, cunning remarks, so let's just jump right into the summary.

Session Capture: Varens Session 8, Our heroes are nearly killed by a widdle iddy biddy puddy cat.

A short session, but this was a
memorable encounter.

Our heroes have a nigh uneventful first day of hiking, which ends in a near total party kill at the paws of a triger due to risky behavior and awful rolls.

Session Capture: Varens Session 7, Wherein our Heroes Have a Downtime Episode

Used my scanner for the first time
today to put the map pieces together.
My players told me they didn't even
understand the map until seeing it
stitched together like this.

Downtime and preparation episode. A bunch of dominoes being lined up so the players have free choice over which to knock down!

So the battle ends very fast this session when suddenly I decide to use the Mass Combat rules. Against death defying odds, the heroes are unusually successful. Let's take a look.

100th post-a-versery. Today was almost nothing but fighting, are ya'lls ready for a rip-roaring hootenanny of inside jokes and incomprehensible half told tales? Today's episode is a tale of betrayal, weak crossbows, and a world record setting number of critical failures. Be amazed, or don't, I'm not your dad. Make your own decisions.

I've written a few session captures before, but this is the first time I'm putting them on a blog. I dunno a standard formula to do this so I think I'll borrow the advice from here from Dungeon Fantastic for now. Experiment with that, and then season it as I feel appropriate. Let's see what happened in a very meta special episode where suspension of disbelief was only optional. Welcome to the country of Varens.
