City Stats: Radkappe (TL5+2)

Tiny village in the middle of
nowhere.
A small collapsing rural town in the middle of nowhere in the middle of nowhere... ok, it's pretty close to the capital, but it is very small, and dealing with a small existential crisis. Let's take a look.

The Stats

I pull a number out of nowhere. I want a small settlement, so let's say about 500 people. This is pretty small, but nominal for an out of the way small country village. Since it's out of the way, it doesn't have much in the way of industry or economic leverage, so it doesn't have an especially good wealth either. People kinda do as they please and what they need to do to survive in this tight knit community.

Notes

Radkappe is notable for being near the center of the empire, although it is a very small village. The name stems from this piece of trivia in fact. The empire is currently planning to evacuate the village via eminent domain to set up a government facility. Although he is offering all 500 citizens ample enough compensation, they are not enthusiastic about leaving their traditional home going as far back as recorded history can recall. The empire seems bent on displacing them though. Although poor, the site is a thing of resplendent natural beauty. It is a small village atop a single mountain in the middle of a great plain, from which one can see in every direction for tens of miles. They do have an esoteric medicine tradition involving the grinding of stones in the area, and consuming them to help with aligning organic magic flows, but the science is out on whether this is mumbo jumbo, tradition, or in fact, a real thing. Perhaps such a discovery would cause a huge influx of industry, but perhaps also the locals would rather maintain their simple way of life.

Other Thoughts and Conclusion

Session was cancelled yesterday, oh well, gives me more time to hammer out details. I think I have a good idea that just needs a bit more incubation time, so it sits well with me.
